October Update
Your Input is shaping Timnath's Safety Action Plan
Thank you to everyone who shared ideas and experiences to help make travel safer in Timnath. Community input is helping the Town develop its draft Safety Action Plan, which will go to Town Council in January 2027 for review and approval.
What we did
Community members provided feedback at the Timnath Project Fair, Touch a Truck and through an online interactive map on Your Timnath. Two stakeholder workshops brought together residents, schools, emergency responders, transportation agencies and community organizations to discuss safety concerns and potential improvements. Town Council also provided input during an April work session.
What we heard
Safer school routes and pedestrian crossings- Comments emphasized protecting children and improving access to schools, neighborhoods and trails.
Speeding and driver behavior- Concerns included distracted driving, failure to yield at crossings and compliance with traffic laws.
Better walking and biking connections- Residents identified sidewalk gaps, narrow shoulders and missing connections between neighborhoods and destinations.
Intersection safety and visibility- Comments highlighted difficult crossings, limited sight distance and turning conflicts.
Planning for growth- Comments raised concerns about congestion, access along Harmony Road and reliable emergency response as Timnath grows.
How your input will shape the draft plan
The project team is reviewing this feedback alongside crash records, traffic speeds and roadway conditions to identify priority locations and develop recommended improvements. The draft plan will address roadway design, education, enforcement and Town policies, with attention to cost, feasibility and opportunities to coordinate with partner agencies.
Next steps
The draft plan will be presented to Town Council in January 2027 for review and approval. Project updates and documents will be posted on this webpage as they become available.
Thank you for your contribution!
